Sunday Morning Sermon

Few things move the human spirit like old friends, deeply immersed, telling true and unbelievable stories. This is what we have in this recording. Of course, there is the part about Kidd Jordan catching the Holy Ghost, which does happen, but usually only when he is comfortable and in the company of trusted souls, as he is here. Willam Parker and Alvin Fielder stoke the flames with rhythm and feeling, Christopher Parker spurs them on, bringing out harmony, evoking spirits, while Kelley Hurt and Chad Fowler join the fray, like a choir, ringing the truth out of the moment.
